What Causes Pain In The Right Calf And Ankle?

I have pain in my right calf and ankle and some swelling feels a little like a charly horse staring but not the same. Below my ankle is a bulge of swelling and blood vessels are showing and look enlarged. Hard for me to walk. My Dr. has put me on Lasix every other day, the swelling is a little better but pain is worse.

Hi,

You may have thrombophlebitis or DVT. Blood clots (deep vein thrombosis) can be another cause of leg pain. Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is the result of a blood clot forming in the deep vein in the arm or leg, including the calf.

There are numerous factors and conditions that can cause DVT. Some include sitting for long periods of time, medication complications, and smoking.

Symptoms of DVT include:
- visible veins in the affected area
- swelling
- leg tenderness
- skin discoloration
- feeling of warmth in the calf

You should see your doctor immediately if you develop symptoms of DVT.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
