What Causes Pain In The Ribs?

Hello i got back from the ER, after thinking i was having heart problems. They told me i Had Costochondritis. The pain is in my upper left pectoral. I was surfing a week ago and beleive thats what it was from, as i had a sore lower right rib that has now heeled up for the most part. I didn t have the pronounced feeling in my upper left chest until i had taken some adderall. He said that could trigger the pain. I wanted to know if speed like stimulants could trigger the pain more so? Thank you.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for asking.
Pain in chest can be due to bonyl weakness, costochondritis, lung problems&heart problem (only in front ... retrosternal area).
Stimulants are not likely to triggr pain in case of costochondritis.Over exersion for chest muscles (breathing trouble, lifting weight etc) /exposure to cold can do it.
Thanks.
