What Causes Pain In The Ribs?

I have been having pain in my ribs at breast level. Have had for off and on for about 19 days. Last few days, it is getting worse. Only significant at night time. 1000 mg of Ibuprofen is not touching it. Last night I took hydrocodone/acetaminophen (left over from dental work in past). Was hurting on sternum end.Tonight it woke me up from sleep and is severe in right side at spinal attachment. Worse than last night. There is no overt reason for this, no injuries. No over exercising. Also I seem to be having more abdominal gas than usual. I am a 69 yr old female, no heart issues at all. Have history of irritable bowel. Not a smoker or drinker or drug taker. At this stage, I have to go see my doctor tomorrow, but this popped up. So I am wondering what you think could be causing it. Thanks.

Hello i just read your query and feel that this rib pain might be due to vitamin D deficiency or weakness of bones.
I suggest have your vitamin D levels checked and let me know.
In the meantime try and expose yourself in the sun for 30 minutes daily.
I find this answer helpful
