What Causes Pain In The Neck And Shoulder?

I was in the Dominican Republic and a monkey licked my head the monkey was on the left side of the head and neck. Now I m experiencing neck and shoulder pain. I don t know if I contacted rabies or not. My doctor doesn t seem to think so but the neck, shoulder, and head are stiff. I ve been given some muscle relaxers and ibuprofen. I had diarrhea but I was given ciprofloxacin and now that s gone. But the rest of the systems still exists.

Hi,

Welcome to health care magic,

I agree with your doctor on this matter. Based on your history and symptoms, I suspect you have some muscle stiffness. I suggest you relax and quit worrying about that episode with the monkey. I also suggest some stress relief exercises like yoga and meditation. Please continue the muscle relaxants and you will feel better soon.
Thanks.
