What Causes Pain In The Lower Back In Early Pregnancy Stage?

I am seven weeks pregnant today and last night and in to this morning I have had sharp pains in my left side of my lower back. I am yet to have an ultrasound to determine the viability of this pregnancy and the pain worries me. My HCG levels have been monitored and are doubling like they should..I am also on 200mg of progestrone and my progestone level in the blood is 37. I have not had any cramping..no fever..no shoulder pain..and no bleeding. I am 30 years old..good health and have a five year old son that was delivered via c-section. Just wondering if this pain could be normal. Thank you

Hello,

Low back pain is quite common during early weeks of pregnancy due to relaxation of pelvic ligaments. Relaxin hormone is the main cause.

You can use muscle relaxant gel locally and take hot water bag to get some relief.

Do periodic check up to your doctor. Good luck.
