What causes pain in the left knee?

I am wondering what is wrong with my knee. Left knee, left side of a little in the back. I 1st noticed the pain in bed. I went to stretch my legs & felt the pain. I have to be careful how I move. I can do a plank, no problem. Just very painful to lie on my left side. What might be going on here?

Hi,

Your problem can be due to arthritis of knee or injury to internal structures of knee like ligaments or menisci. A physical examination by orthopedician and X ray will be helpful to rule out this. Rest for the affected knee, application of crepe bandage and quadriceps strengthening exercises will be helpful to clear this.

Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear.

Regards,
Dr. Nishad BN
