What Causes Pain In The Knees?

I have pain on the inside toward the front of my right knee. It hurts when I push a wheeled chair away from a desk. It gets sore when driving in stop and go traffic. Occasionally, it will give me shocking pain when climbing stairs. Should I see a doctor? I am overweight but not horribly.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Pain in the joint can be related to the bones , muscles or tendons in the area.

It can involve one or more of these areas.

Increased weight can put more pressure on a joint so it is possible that there is some link to this.

You should consider seeing your doctor for an assessment to determine the cause.
This would involve history of this and any other symptoms, physical examination of the knee and likely imaging (x ray)

Treatment may include pain killers and physiotherapy but also would be directed towards the specific cause found during the assessment.

I hope this helps
