What Causes Pain In The Jaws?

I am having pain in jaw muscle. Almost cannot chew. Started two days ago. Seems swollen when I look in the mirror. Had dental work done prepping for an implant about 6 months ago, but pain is not at that site. Pain seems to be coming from that muscle. Radiates up to my ear.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

I understand your concern.

The pain in the jaw you are having could be due to possible:
- bad teeth
- ear infection/inflammation
- salivary gland infection/inflammation

I advise to run a good ENT examination to determine the right cause.

For the moment, :
- keep good oral hygiene
- take anti-inflammatory meds like paracetamol or ibuprofen

Wish fast recovery.
