What Causes Pain In The Hand Radiating To The Wrist And Elbow?

I have pain in my right hand that shoots down to my wrist and elbow. if I try to grip something or hold my arm up, it feels worse. it hurts even more when I type or when I try to massage my hand. This has been going on since last night. I did not do anything that could have injured my hand, so what could it be?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi thanks for posting on hcm.
From your symptoms I suspect it to be a condition called carpal tunnel syndrome caused by compression of a nerve at the wrist due to various causes.
I recommend you to go to doctor to be examined and confirming till then give rest to the affected hand and if possible apply a splint to the hand at nights.
Hope this is helpful to you
Regards
