What Causes Pain In The Esophagus While Swallowing?

i am having a pain deep in my esophagus when I swallow - just started this afternoon. It like it is contricting when I swallow near my stomach. I have only had warm water all night just to see if that will help. Is there sometime else I should do?

Use liquid diet and soft diet for 3 days and cap valuperaOle 20mg daily for 7 days plus syp gaviscon 2tsf 3 times a day for 7 days .and keep the head side of the bed elevated
