What Causes Pain In The Arms?

While living in chronic pain ( back neck and head) one night I felt a shot like pain in my arm (where you normal get a shot) then after about 20 minutes it switched to the other arm.The next morning My elbows and forearms and from the elbow joint about 4 inches up toward my shoulders was so numb and painful, it took 3 months for the symptoms to disappear. Now I can t sleep with my arms folded with out having deep muscle type pain in the joints. MRI s don t show anything. What vertebrae causes this? T1?
