Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I get a dull pain in my arm - only when sleeping - that wakes me. In the morning the pain in my arm subsides, but sometimes continues in my fingers - to the point the it s a 6 on a scale of 10. I can t associate it with physical activity, or lack thereof. It s not every night - but it more often than not.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi, Thanks for the query. I understand your concern. It seems to be because of pressure on nerve supplying the arm- mostly due to your sleeping posture- like sleeping on a side- ( pressing on the nerve in neck creating pressure by a cervical rib / cervical spine/nerve pressure at shoulder or elbow joint) The pain subsides while you start moving about ( the the posture causing the pressure is no more there.) The absence of symptoms/ continuation of pain will be decided by the time & degree of pressure created by the typical posture . * Physical check up by an orthopedic surgeon OR X ray or MRI of cervical spine & neck/ joints would pin point the cause. Thanks
