What causes pain in tailbone?

I have a painful area at the tip of my tailbone. It is red (about 2 diameter) and there seems to be a small swollen area in the center of it. The symptoms started last night after supper. I am suspicious of a spiderbite. What do you recommend I do and when do you recommend I do it. If possible, I would wait until Monday when the regular Dr. office is open.
