Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
It can be due to cervical spondylitis. In this condition there is nerve compression in the neck and this causes such sharp severe pain in the neck and beneath ear. Some time it can be a ear related issue also. I would suggest you to show it to a ENT specialist first and rule out any ear related problem and if every thing is normal from his side than you can start treatment accordingly. Mostly you will need muscle relaxant and local ointment application like voletran. If you need any further assistance than you can share your his opinion with me also.
