What Causes Pain In Navel?

I have recently developed a pain in my belly button which hurts when pressure is put on it. The pain is external not behind the belly button, so i think it has something to do with the skin. I have a lot of hair on my belly button, what are the possibilities of a cyst or ingrown hair?

Hi and welcome to Healthcaremagic. Thank you for your query. I am Dr. Rommstein, I understand your concerns and I will try to help you as much as I can.

Yes these are possible causes, but also it may be caused by a small umbilical hernia or liparocele which are protrusion of internal organs or fat into the subcutaneous layer. If there is no redness then this is not likely to be an ingrown hair. it would be good to do an ultrasound of this area to see if there is a cyst or hernia. Then it can be treated by surgical procedure if necessary.
I hope I have answered you query. If you have any further questions you can contact us in every time.
Kindly regards. Wish you a good health.
