What Causes Pain In Lower Back And Thighs?

Sudden onset 3 weeks ago of lower back and upper front thigh pain -- could barely stand or walk. Frozen. Now I can walk but pain appears, lessens, and reappears in various forms occasionally in lower back but also hips, upper thighs, side. Worsens when walking or standing for a few minutes, but not always. Pain is deep, dull, boring-like. It s often relieved by sitting or lying down but not always. Pain doesn t go any lower than middle of thighs, in front or on sides. Also, a couple of times a day, a sudden shock-like spasm in neck. Internist told me a few years ago that I have the bone-density better than a 25-year old even though I was 53.....now am 56.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
From history it seems that there might be having Sciatica pain giving rise this problem.
Due to some degenerative changes in your lower vertebrae might give pinched nerve pressure producing this type of pain.
Go for x-ray lower vertebrae for osteo-artheritis in lower vertebrae.
Go for back extension exercises daily.
Take Calcium, vitamin A and D supplements.
Ok and take care.
