What Causes Pain In Lower Abdomen After A Colonoscopy?

My daughter had a colonoscopy 2 days ago. She s experiencing pain 2 or 3 inches below her belly button today. The pain is severe after she ate, then it kind of subsided. It comes back every hour or so. Right now she is on the plane to New York. What do you think it is? Thank you very much.

Hi thanks for your question..
Lower abdominal pain is very much common after colonoscopy. It is due to the air which is used to inflate the gut for proper visualization of gut.Doctors usually tries to remove all the air at the end of procedure but still small amount of air still remains in gut which gives rise to pain.Tell her try to pass the gas as much she can plus she can take any antispasmodic available there.T his pain will go of itself in 12 to 24 hours.
Hope this answers your question
