What Causes Pain In Head While Looking Up Or Turning And Ringing Ears?

Hi Doc, I have weird pains in my head. Mostly my neck, but when I turn my head or look up, it hurts inside, but not like a sore throat. Sometimes it hurts in my ear, but again, not like an earache, more like the outside part of the ear hurts. Also, I have a ringing in my ear. There is a tender spot near my jaw joint. I just switched insurance and the new doctor only does new patient intakes every few weeks, so I can t get in until March 1.

Hi,

First of all, the tender spot near your jaw joint means you could have inflammation in this joint or you could have an inflammation in the parotid gland. For the infection you can take amoxicillin / Clavulinic acid 875 / 125 mg twice per day before meals besides, Metronidazole 500 mg one tablet three times per day after meals. You can take Paracetamol 500 mg as a pain killer if you do not tolerate the pain. The ringing in your ear means that the infection is too severe to spread to your ear.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mustafa, Neurologist
