What Causes Pain In Head Radiating To Left Temple After A Head Injury?

Hello! Last Monday, I was helping a friend in her house and bent over a computer printer in order to move it, not realising that there was a shelf above it. The sharp corner of the shelf impacted against the left hand side of the top of my head just off centre towards the front of my skull resulting in an instant headache which hasn t really gone away even though it was seven days ago. The ache is mostly on the left hand side radiating down my left temple and above my left eye although there is slight discomfort in other areas as well. I ve been taking acetaminophen but it doesn t deal with it. Do you think this will go eventually? The headache isn t severe but just lingering. As I have other unrelated minor health issues, including neck problems as well as often being tired in the day as a side effect of a sleeping pill and having had two nasty colds since Christmas, leaving me drained and tired, I haven t really considered this new headache as something to bother about as I get tired easily anyway with all the other health issues but I m starting to get bothered with this perpetual headache caused by the sharp bump - when it happened, it felt a bit like being struck by a sharp object but there was no obvious external bleeding. Thankyou. Dawn

Hello,

The head pain that you are referring is likely linked to local skin contusion and should go eventually with time.

Since there were no significant neurological symptoms such as loss of consciousness, lethargy, nausea and vomiting, etc. yours seems not a serious condition.

Try to avoid physical efforts, and use ibuprofen instead for a better control of the headaches.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
