Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
yes, I have experience severe pain in my hands and arms most likely due to overuse on the keyboard. I have used the dragon program and speech recognition tool to use the computer as recommended and the pain still persists at times when I am resting, sitting or in bed asleep. I don t understand why it still hurts even after my activity was modified. My arms feel like the weigh a ton and the minimal task leaves me fatigue after just a short time. why is this?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
I feel a long use of computer both hands, elbows either pressing on table ridge. Shoulders depressed position causing hump in back/constant bending neck any of these can cause stretch or pressure on nerve supply of hands. This can lead to the pain you have. You may need MRI neck and physical examination by an orthopedic surgeon to confirm the cause. Pain killer over the counter along with physiotherapy can give relief. In case of cervical spondylosis expert advise needs to be followed.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
