What Causes Pain In Gum?

I have issues with tooth and gum pain! Have had several teeth pulled and fillings done latley mostly on the left side of my mouth upper and lower side. I asked my ARNP why am I having this gum pain when there is no teeth left, and the ones that are still intact are very sensitive, along with headaches and pain from my left eye socket along my upper and lower left jaw area. She mentioned there is a nerve area above my left eye area going down to my to the upper and lower gum. She called it something just cant remember what. She stated I may have a Neurological issue? Just wanted to check with you about it too. Can you please enlighten me on this? Thank you, Ranee

Hi.
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain there is a possibility that pain in the gums where there are no teeth left can be due any left over root piece that is flaring up and causing infection..
An x ray of the area can help in confirming the cause and can be treated accordingly..
In case of any left over root piece extraction of the same can resolve..
In case if it is not the cause then the other most probable reason seems to be nerve induced pain known as Trigeminal Neuralgia..
Investigations like MRI SCAN can help..
It can occur due to causes like an artery compressing the nerve or traumatic injury to the nerve branches..
In this condition neurotic painkillers like Carbamazepine, Gabapentin etc can be advised..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
