What Causes Pain In Collarbone And Breastbone?

My son is 10 and for about 6 months he has complained off and on about his collarbone and breastbone hurting if you touch it, but it doesn't hurt to breathe. He does have allergies and sneezes a lot, is he sore from sneezing so much? He can lift his arms, has full range of motion, plays just fine. Please do you have any ideas of what it could be?

Hi,

I am sorry for the situation your son is in. From what you are describing, the pain he feels when touching the collarbone and breastbone is not worrisome. It might be due to sneezing too much as long as he carries his normal daily activities fine.

I advise to apply analgesic cream locally and take oral pain killers. If no improvement or the pain will get worse, should consult with pediatrician for further evaluations.

All the best!
