What Causes Pain In Arm After Removal Of Implanon Implant?

I had my implanon removed 3 weeks ago. About 4 days later I had alot of pain going from the incision down through my forearm, I went to my dr she said it was an infection in the soft tissue. She gave me a strong antibiotic and I just finished taking them about 3 days ago...I still have the pain in my elbow through forearm...it s so bad and I can t straighten my arm all the way. Can you please tell what it could be. I m going to call my dr on monday. Thanks.

Hello
thanks for using health care magic

It was a good thing that you were put on antibiotics, because it must have been an infection of soft tissue in the first place. However, the duration of treatment and the antibiotic sensitivity matters.

Well, assuming the you took the right antibiotic and for the right duration, the only thing to assume now will be that, its the healing process that is causing you the pain or more rarely a nerve trauma while the implanon was being remove.

If the area feels warmth, then the infection is likely still there but if it has normal temperature like the other body parts, then its not infection, healing process or nerve trauma. Pain killers will help; ibuprofen, paracetamol etc.

Best regards
