What Causes Pain In Arm After Injecting IV?

im a 26 year old white female, 5 2, 104lbs. Last Wednesday I went into the ER for chest pains. I was given an IV in my upper inner left arm. Only thing injected was the saline flush. Now, a week later, of course with bruising, I have a painful to the touch, hard area, near the muscle above the IV site. Should I be concerned?

Welcome to Health Care Magic. Thank you for posting your question.
I can understand your concern.

I have gone through the details. There is nothing to worry. The painful, bruising , hard , red area after I.V flushing is due to superficial thrombophlebitis.

I would suggest you to apply Thrombophob gel(Heparin Sodium 200 IU) twice daily over the affected area for 5 days.

Everything will be fine.

Hope this helps.

Post any other question. We will be happy to help.
Have a nice day. Regards.
