What Causes Pain From Collar Bone To Sternum And Across Pectoral Muscles?

Hi, I m a 45 yr old male. The last 7 weeks I have ever increasing darts of sharp pain from my collar bone to my sternum and across my pectoral muscles. It s at a stage where if I do any sort of lifting or even after driving the. I m in horrible pain and very weak across my chest. My doctor reckons I ve torn my pectoral muscles and prescribed steroids and even injected steroids into the muscles. I don t feel any better even after the steroid injections, can you please advise thankyou

Hello,

Your symptoms could be related to costochondritis or local muscle inflammation. For this reason, I recommend having some rest and taking naproxen for a couple of weeks. Local warm packs can help too.
