What Causes Pain Below Ribs On Breathing?

i have terable pain in my my left side when breathing when coughing feels like broken ribs flem on my chest but cant get it up becouse of the pain only short breaths feels like a knife stabbing into my lung is much worse wnen i lye down and painfull when trying to get back up the pains came twice through the night lasting an hour or so then eased of can takea breath now with just slight pain today

By your history and description, possibility of musculoskeletal pain is more likely.
But better to get done chest x ray to rule out lung related diseases.
If chest x ray is normal then no need to worry for lung diseases.
Apply warm water pad on affected areas.
Avoid movements causing pain. Avoid heavyweight lifting and strenuous exercise.
Sit with proper back support.
Take painkiller and muscle relaxant drugs like ibuprofen and thiocolchicoside.
Don't worry, you will be alright with all these.
