My 23 yr old healthy white male son. 5 9 150 lbs. admitted to ER with severe stabbing chest pain directly behind sternum, that lasted for a little over an hour and went away. he was admitted at about 7 pm and kept overnight and the pain returned 8 hours later (about 2 am) and went away within the hour. troponin level was 5.6 when admitted. had another pain event about 10 hours later. a second troponin test was done at 7 am that came back this afternoon, at just over 8.1. he did have some type of virus that had him down for a couple weeks but is now under control. he has no other symptoms except the pain and high T level. What s going on??? any ideas.
Hi, I think you should go for a serum amylase and lipase level. It can be due to acute pancreatitis also. Also get an abdominal ultrasound done to see any intra abdominal pathology.
