What Causes Pain Behind The Heels?

well, a couple of weeks ago I started having pain in the back of my heels. it was worse in the left foot, but both feet are involved. Also, I had that skin-crawly feeling you get when you have a slight fever. I went to the clinic and was diagnosed with gout by nurse practitioner. took the gout medicine and a run of prednisone. meds helped, but pain and swelling came back, along with sick feeling as above and chills. Saw my DO and he thought probably plantar fasciitis or possibly bursitis. been doing the exercises, keeping feet up when I can, and applying ice packs. Last night had the chills pretty bad. Sure I had a slight fever, altho batteries dead in my thermometer. Today, both ankles are really swollen, and if you poke them the poke place stays for quite a while. gettin kinda worried.
