Hello, I have had a very sharp pain behind my right eye socket for 10 days now. i have had no injury to the area or infection of any type. the only thing that dulls the pain a little bit is when I take an oxycodone 15mg pill. the relief last about 3 hours than starts coming back. can you give me an idea of what it may be ? I am 54 and have never exp this type of pain in my entire life. thank you Ric

Hello Ric,
There are few important questions. How is your vision in the right eye?Are you a diabetic or a family history of any eye problems
Pain behind the eye socket could be a sign of an uncorrected refractive error,Glaucoma or optic neuropathy.
I would advice you to seek an opinion from an eye specialist as you mentioned that an oxycodone pill relieves your pain.Oxycodone is a semi synthetic opioid, the side effect of on the eye is miosis(constriction of pupil). This may be decreasing your eye-pressure temporarily. You need to check your eye pressure.Hope this helped.
