What Causes Pain At The Bottom Of The Rib Cage While Coughing And Sneezing?

When I have to cough or sneeze, the effort to do so seems to cause discomfort at the bottom of my rib cage which is severe enough to inhibit the cough or sneeze. The discomfort actually stifles the cough or sneeze due to its severity. This developed just recently, and seems to be accompanied by weight gain. Could it be diet related?

Hi,Thanks for your query. After going through your query I came to know that you probably got pleurisy . It is inflammation of covering of lung probably due to viral infection. It has probably no relation to your weight gain.Its treatment is rest and analgesic to relieve pain. Cetrizine can be useful in suppression of coughing or sneezing.Vitamin B and C help in recovery.
