What causes pain and swelling in the upper arm?

Hi, for the past 2 days I have been experiencing extreme upper arm bone pain. The pain has been achey but I can definitely tell that it s there. It wakes me up at night and ibuprofen is not touching the pain. It is also swelling a lot. I m not sure if I should go in for further testing.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Pain and swelling in upper arm can be due to an injury or a muscle strain or tear. A bone injury also needs to be ruled out if there is a history of trauma.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Hello. I m having pain on my right arm. There s a certain spot on my right bicep that hurts when I touch it but there is no visible swelling or bruising. The pain extends all the way to my pinky and it feels like there is little blood circulation happening.

My 83 year old father complained today of sudden pain in his upper left arm (bicep area as far as I can see). He seemed a little tired but not necessarily any more than usual. The pain has persisted for about 7 hours but only when he moves his arm. Should I be worried?

My upper arm (biceps) ,shoulder muscle(front side mostly) and all the way down to my wrist suddenly out Of nowhere hurt and tighten for about 15 to 20 seconds then stop. It has done this only today about 3 times Every 45 to 60 minutes I guess. Feels like as it would if I had just bench pressed slot of weight or something. I am pretty fit and do get plenty of exercise but haven t done anything strenuous to my arms. Rode my bike today but? It happens to both arms at the same time.
