What Causes Pain And Swelling In Head After An Injury?

I took an elbow to the side of the head during a softball game yesterday. I got a nice bump there and a small cut. I have had constant pain in the area but I wouldnt really call it a headache. My balance is a bit off but no vomiting and I have slept for a total of 6 hours since the incident. I havent been able to eat yet because it hurts too much to open my mouth fully. Do i have to go to the hospital? Or can I just wait out the swelling to go down?

Pathologist and Microbiologist 's  Response
Hello,

Difficulty to open mouth after a head injury suggests a muscular injury or muscular spasm. I suggest you to consult your primary healthcare provider for clinical assessment and thus management.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
