What Causes Pain And Stiffness On The Left Foot?

I have been experiencing pain and stiffness on the top of my left foot for several months. It started with a slight tingling pain, but has gotten much worse. At first, it felt almost as if the top of my foot was asleep . It happens after my feet have been at rest for any period of time. Sitting, sleeping, driving, etc. it feels like my foot can not adjust to walking again. Very stiff and I have to walk like Frankenstein for several steps. Funny looking, but it really hurts.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Painful stiff foot can be due to arthritis. If the stiffness lasts longer then 30 minutes then rheumatoid arthritis can be considered. If the stiffness is less then 30 minutes then ostheoarthritis can be the cause.

Both of these can respond to paracetamol and ibuprofen but it is best to see your doctor because if it is rheumatoid arthritis you need disease modifying drugs that will help reduce progression of the disease.

I hope I have answered to your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
