What Causes Pain And Persistent Discomfort On Lower Rib Cage?

I have occasional pain and continuous discomfort on the lower right side of my rib cage. It is limited to muscle and skin area above the ribs about 2 inches squared. It feels the same as having a bruise from surface trauma, but I have not had any trauma in that area. It is sensitive to touch but not sensitive to movement. No discoloration or swelling. I have had this for about 10 days. Could this be a result of muscle strain or a muscle tear?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi thanks for asking question.
Yes according to history you have mentioned it seems muscular strain mostly.
It might occur from some unusual activity or from heavy weight lift...
Rest done
Simple analgesic helpful in releiving pain..
If need elastic supportive bandage might needed..

If ribs are tender to touch It might costochondritis...
So rest is needed.

And according to severity of muscle strain recovery takes time to heal....
If still problem continue x ray done.

Hope your concern solved....
