What Causes Pain And Numbness In The Upper Arm?

What kind of signs /symptoms point to a heart attack? 1 week ago I was with a elder person who experienced strong pain and numbness in upper arm? The symptoms lasted about 5 minutes and did not reoccur since then. We sat down and rested for a while, but i was very concerned and did not know if i should call for help.

Hi,

The symptoms of numbness and tingling sensation in the arm following injury as a result of fall of firewood indicate injury to the nerve. Since you also had bruise with symptoms of weakness of the arm and hand, this requires examination to assess the nature and severity of injury.

Most of the mild to moderate nerve injuries will recover over 3-6 weeks. But still consultation with orthopedic doctor is required to assess the severity of injury and to rule out fracture of the bone or ligament or tendon injuries. Yes, X-ray may be needed. Hence I advice you to consult your doctor and do get back to me with the examination reports.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ivan R. Rommstein,
