What Causes Pain And Numbness In Shoulder After A Rotator Cuff Surgery?
I had rotator cuff surgery. 5 weeks later I had a pain and was discovered to have two staples in my shoulder (staples were only used to close the skin). I had surgery to remove the staples, which were deep in my deltoid. I subsquently have numbness on the left side of my had, and loss of strength in my hand. I had EMG/NV testing and was told I have carpal tunnel syndrome. I am 56 years old and a waiter. I never had an issue with my hand prior to the surgery. Could the problems with my hand be related or caused by the surgeries to my shoulder?
Hello, I have studied your case and I do not think that carpel syndrome can cause such pain in shoulder and weakness. There is possibility of weakness in shoulder due to axillary nerve compression. I would suggest you following. 1. Please send me your EMG report to me. 2. If there is Axillary nerve damage than you might need surgery to take care of nerve depending on extent of surgery. Some time nerve is not damages and only stretched, in that case just wait and watch is helpful. How much injury is there it can be decided with nerve report only. Please send me that report. I will try my best to help you. Thanks
