What Causes Pain And Inflammation In The Lower Gum?

I have a two teeth that appear to be abscessed and aching in my lower gum from the inflammation - my dentist is out of town until early next week. He usually proscribes clindamycin 150 mg for preliminary reduction in swelling and inflammation prior to extraction sometimes up to five days or more ahead of time. It has worked well the past few extractions. I will not be able to get a prescription for that antibiotic. I do have available some amoxicillin 500 mg capsules available that might get me through - would that help with the tooth swelling and inflammation?

Hi..
Thanks fir the query..

It looks like there is pus formation below the root tips of your infected teeth and as the pus accumulates under the gums therefore the gums are infected and painful..
Yes, amoxicillin can be taken in this condition [if you are not allergic to it], but as it is prescription medicine you should take it after consulting an Emergency room..
Along with it you should also take anti inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen and serratiopeptidases..
Apply numbing gel containing Lidocaine over the gum to reduce pain..
Do warm saline gargles..

Hope this helps..

Regards..
