What Causes Pain And Discomfort On Right Rib Area?

I'm having pain on my right side rib cage area. Everything irritates it and cause the pain to get worse. Bending over, deep breathing, walking, laying down, coughing, hiccuping, sneezing and moving makes the pain worse and puts me to tears. I coughed extremely hard a few times earlier today and there was a "snap" type of sound and feeling that occurred with instant sharp pain. the pain is unreal and can't get comfortable at all. I've used ice, heat, anti-inflammatory meds, Tylenol, etc..Nothing is helping and I'm so uncomfortable due to pain right now. Please help..I want to know what this is or what I can do to get the relief I need. Thank you for your time and I look forward to getting relief soon!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi ,
Thanks for writing to us,

In your query you havent mentioned if you have an injury recently on the right side of your thorax , a broken rib may be a cause , or else , it can be muscular spasm or a neurological disorder.

I suggest you to visit a general physician , near to you and get a physical examination done , act further.

Wishing you a good health,

Dr.G.Gayatri Devi
