What Causes Pain And Dark Blue Veins In Back Of Knee?

Hi, I am a fitness professional/dance athlete/outdoor cyclist/runner and I noticed one day that I had dark blue veins right beneath the back of my knee at the top of my calf. I continued my regular exercise and instructing routines and now it is throbbing intensely. Though I have it elevated and it hurts worse. Am I in danger of a clot? I have no shortness of breath.
