What Causes Pain And Crunching In The Knee Joint?

my only real symptom is pain in both knees, warmth, stinging, popping/ cracking noise. it has been occurring for a few months now. i have not noticed any other specific symptoms - maybe low energy. I would like to know what possible condition might be. No other joints seem to be affected at this point.
