Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I fell a few days ago and have exhibited some light knee and foot pain since that seems to be getting better. However this morning I noticed some bruising had appeared (black and blue) on side of my foot that s not the area of where it was strained when I fell, and now there seems to be a general bruising and change of color in that foot. Do I need to seek immediate medical attention or is it something that can wait until tomorrow morning? Ernie
Black or blue discoloration of the skin is due to poor circulation or inadequate oxygen levels in your blood. Apply Thrombophob Gel to the affected area. It is an effective blood thinner, it prevents blood clot formation in the arteries, vein below the skin.
For pain, you can take Acetaminophen (Tylenol) or Naproxen (NSAIDs). It should get better in 48 hours. But if there is no change in the symptoms then you need to visit ER, get physically examined and evaluated for the symptoms.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K,
General & Family Physician
