What Causes Pain And Break Outs In Belly Button?

My belly button keeps breaking out every month, it is red, oozes puss and blood. It breaks out either before or after my period. It is also red around it and inside, it hurts to touch it. There is pain behind it and it is tender to the touch. I went to the doctor the last time it did it and they just gave me some cream to put on it. What is causing them?

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your it seems that breakouts in belly button that oozes blood and pus along with ] pain on bending seems to due to infection in the belly button area and can occur most commonly due to bacterial infection..

As the area of belly button is having such a structure that there can be moisture accumulation in the area and bacteria has it as a favourable environment for multiplication leading to infection causing pus formation and pain..

I would suggest you to consult a General Surgeon and get evaluated and he can do a proper drainage of the area and also do an antiseptic dressing..
He can also advise you a course of antibiotics like a combination of Sulphamethoxazoleand Trimethoprim..
Along with it take anti inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen..
Keep the area dry and clean and avoid moisture accumulation..
