What Causes Pain After A Bowel Movement?

I have a annoying pain in the lower right side under my rib cage and especially after a bowel movement. When I get up off the toilet I will have pain in the right side and then it will subside after a few minutes. I do not force myself to move my bowels and sometimes after just sitting at my computer for a long time when I get up to walk I have that same pain in the lower right side under my rib cage but again mostly after a bowel movement.

Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history of pain in right lower side of abdomen, under rib case, particularly after a bowel movement. Pain comes on getting off the toilet also, subsides within a few minutes, also get on getting up from the chair while working with computers...
Such type of pains comes with colitis paricularly of the cecum and ascending colon.
Hence I would advise you the following:
Colonoscopy and biopsy.
CT scan of the abdomen.
Tests of the stool, urine and blood to check for any infection, anemia, diabetes, thyroid dysfuntion and so on.
This along with a clinical evaluation by a General surgeon or a Gastroenterologist will get us the proper diagnosis and we can plan a proper management as per the diagnosis.
You may need a course of an antibiotic, metronidazole and so on as per the findings.
Once the colitis part is covered if present, you should be fine.
If all the investigations are normal, this is obviously IBS that is irritable bowel syndrome and should be treated accordingly.
