Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am a 27 y/o female and just began my first round of Clomid 50 mg days 1-5. Today is CD 17 and I am experiencing what I originally believed to be ovulation bleeding however it seems to be heavier than I expected and is definitely red, not pink or brown. Last night I was running a low grade fever 99.4 and I am experiencing some light cramping and pain near ovaries. It s a heavy enough bleed to where I need a pad or light tampon.I do have PCOS and have never had a normal cycle, usually only have a few periods a year. Is this type of mid cycle bleeding normal while taking Clomid?
Clomid contains Clomiphene citrate the agent used for ovulation induction in variety of clinical conditions including that of infertility and polycystic ovarian syndrome. It is normal to have inter menstrual period bleed while on Clomid for a couple of months till the drug takes precise actions over thehypothalamus pathway.
Continue your current medications in dosage guidelines as per prescribed by your doc and remain in regular follow up.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
