What Causes Osteoarthritis In Neck, Knees And Shoulders?

I have been taking Avapro and hydrochlorothiazide for years. I started noticing tightness of skin around my lower legs and swelling. If I get out in the sun a rash appears on my face. Developed severe osteoarthritis in back neck, knees and shoulders. Had an ANA tested done but it was not high enough for them to decide if I have Lupus. Does the medication do this?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi
Thanks for posting on HCM
BP medications may not give you osteoarthritis. However, osteoarthritis is common with advancing age and occurs when the cartilage that cushions the ends of bones in your joints gradually deteriorates. What you describe sounds like a polyarthropathy. Treatment options for this condition include: different lines of pain drugs, myorelaxants like miorel, steroid shots occasionally, physiotherapy.
I will suggest you see your Doctor for evaluation and objective treatment options. The services of a physiotherapist may be hired if your Doctor feels it will help.I will suggest you get in to regular fitness exercises and Weight check/control
Hope my answer will help you
Best regards
