What Causes One To See Flashes Of Light?

Every so often I see flashing lights, in waves. They start off in the lower part of my eye and move upward until they interfere with my vision. I don t have a headache with these. Occasionally, more often there will just be a ripple of light on the periphery of my vision. What is happening?

such symptoms are related to pathology in retina. better to consult retina specialist should examine to exclude retinal tear hole or detachment
