What Causes Numbness, Swollen And Painful Toes?

I have been experiencing numbness, sort of like swelling in my toes and the ball of my feet. I ve also noticed the skin on top of my feet and just above my ankles is discolored, sort of a brownish color. In addition I occassionally have pain in my big toe on my left foot. Should I be concerned? I am a little over weight.

Hello,
Welcome to healthcare magic.
You have not mentioned if you have diabetes or hypertension or if you are a smoker. But given the history that you are overweight and with the above mentioned symptoms , I would definitely want to rule out arterial disorders. This could be ruled out by doing an arterial doppler to look for blocks. This should be done on an urgent basis especially if the symptoms are acute.
Hope this helps you.
Take care.
