my boyfriend (age 62) is complaining of his middle two toes on his left foot are numb. This really bothers him - can you think of a cause? This has been going on for quite some time. He also said that it feels like there is a rock under the skin underneath his big toe.

Hi, Thanks for the query.I understand your concern. The numbness your friend hpas in two middle toes of foot seem to be due to trauma or pinching of nerve supplying the toes.This could be due to- - bony pressure due to it's swelling at any joint level (knee,ankle,toe joints ,boney sour ) -Tarsal tunnel syndrome. -pinching pf nerve due to umber spine or disc ptoblem. MRI would help in pin pointing the cause followed y specific treatment. (Anti inflammatory pills,local steroid injection,physiotherapy,surgery. ) He should consult an oethopedic doctor. Thanks.
