What Causes Numbness On The Tip Of The Tongue?

My main diagnoses are Ehlers Danlos Syndrome (EDS type 3), Postural Orthostatic Tachacardia Syndrome (POTS),and small fiber peripheral neuropathy. I woke up last week with substantial numbness on the tip of my tongue, and am now going into day four of the numbness with no change. No new meds, no surgery/dentistry, no allergy, already on B12 supplements, etc. What is the likely cause and how urgent is it to be evaluated in person? I am still waiting to be contacted for an MRI, but the benign causes seem to be ruled out, making each day of waiting scarier...

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hello,

Tip of the tongue problem may be due to nerve involvement seen in facial nerve problem or burning mouth syndrome or stroke or multiple sclerosis or tongue bite or infections or burns etc.

Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is. Use tablet Pregabalin once daily for five days. Avoid hot water or soup drinking. Please consult your neuro-physician, he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
