What Causes Numbness In The Toes After Taking Adderall ER?

I take Adderall ER 30mg 1x per day and lately I have noticed that my toes sometimes get very numb. It usually corresponds with a stress situation. I read the side effects and one is listed as numb extremities. Is this a serious side effect and should I stop this med immediately?

Vasoconstriction is a common side effect of stimulant use. In other words, stimulants can cause your blood vessels to constrict, mainly in the extremities. More blood is directed to organs such as the heart, and less blood is directed towards the extremities. It's the body's way of prioritizing.

Stimulants can cause you to stay in one position for a long time without noticing the effects it has on your posture and you end up having back pain and various other aches later on as a result. Try to take a break from whatever you're doing for a little while to stretch your legs, move your feet around (try some stretches) and maybe get one of those stress ball things to squeeze with your hands. Are you in an air conditioned room? Sometimes I have to turn the air conditioning off because my feet are frozen.

Your doses of Adderall (amphetamine salts ) do not seem extraordinarily high . The higher you go, the more likely you are to experience peripheral side effects such as the numbness in the hands and feet. Dexedrine has less of a tendency to cause peripheral side effects when compared to Adderall. Why not just take Dexedrine if you have it, and skip the Adderall?
